Tracing the Ancient Pathways
The Artist, Budda Connors
Guideline ACT was introduced to Budda Connors, a proud Ngunnawal and Ngambri man who expresses his artistic talent into a vibrant tapestry that not only celebrates First Nations culture but also fuels meaningful conversations and deepens understanding. His creative endeavours serve as a bridge, connecting the ancient wisdom of tradition with the dynamic pulse of modernity. Budda was commissioned to create an artwork reflecting Guideline ACT, his work and words are above and below.
The Artist’s Words
Pattern with Orange, Brown and Green lines represent the: Ngambri & Ngunnawal Country.
In this captivating painting the blue lines winds its way across the canvas, tracing the ancient pathways of rivers that cradle the Ngambri and Ngunnawal Country. These rivers, like veins of life, carry stories, memories, and sustenance through the heart of the land. The white dots emerge as silent tributes to the unsung heroes—the frontline workers at Guidelines. Each dot, like a star in the night sky, symbolizes their unwavering dedication, sacrifice, and resilience.
But it is the larger white dots that hold deeper significance. They stand as sentinels, guarding the very essence of the company—the four core values upon which Guidelines was founded and continues to thrive:
- Safety
- Environment
- Quality
- Productivity
U Shapes represent the three founders of Guidelines: Nick Zardo, David Jones, and Gavan McArdle.
Nick Zardo, Managing Director’s Words
Gavan McArdle was the founder of Guideline ACT and Managing Director till 2000, David Jones was Managing Director 2000-2010. I take licence and view the three U shapes as the senior managers of Guideline ACT which also respects our past, present and future. The reference Budda has made to our people, the unsung hero’s has the greatest impact to me personally. I am humbled and honoured to have received such an incredible artwork/symbol and I could have never anticipated the positivity it has generated in Guideline ACT’s journey in recognising the connection to country of Indigenous Australians.
